Ipsotek Visual Intelligence

Frequently asked Questions about Ipsotek and the Video Intelligence Suite (VIS)

Q. Why is Ipsotek different from other Visual Intelligence Systems?

A. Ipsotek’s unique system is able to process and interpret complex busy scenes (eg crowded station concourses) without interference to its detection algorithms.
Ipsotek’s system will also do this in all weather environments. Many systems will crash or trigger false alarms, when eg a shadow appears due to the sun shining.
Ipsotek is the only system to concurrently analyse audio as well as video to refine detection of incidents. (anger, fear, gunshots).
Ipsotek is the only system available that handles multiple simultaneous alarm triggers. All other systems available operate single event detection triggers which significantly increases false alarms.

Q. What extra hardware do I need to run the VIS?

A. None - all the hardware and software necessary to run your system is provided by us with the exception of equipment racks, video cables and network patch cables. The exception items can be provided by Ipsotek at a cost and will be discussed at the time of quotation.

Q. What modifications need to be made to connect the VIS in to my network?

A. The VIS will connect to your existing IP network. Ipsotek can give advice on bandwidth requirements and connectivity to other systems

Q. How do we train your operators to use the VIS?

A. We will train your operatives to ensure they understand how to use the VIS and how to maximise its impact on your security operation. We provide training for user operators and configuration engineers.

Q. How can we stay current with the latest detection software?

A. As an Ipsotek client you will receive the latest software releases and have access to the most contemporary detection solutions as they are developed.

Q. How accurate is the software in highlighting threats?

A. The number of false positives (alerts) will be determined by the set-up of the software. Excessive sensitivity, for example, will lead to a greater number of false positives.
In all trials to date, where set-up has been overseen by Ipsotek, accuracy has been running in excess of 96%
Ipsotek offers configuration services to assist the user to gain the maximum benefit from the solution.

Q. How many cameras can the Ipsotek VIS handle?

A. Unlimited - by adding VIS Systems in a networked environment the system can be scaled to meet the customers requirements.

Q. Do I need special cameras?

A. No. Ipsotek can provide assistance with the choice and sighting of cameras.

Q. Can I use IP cameras?

A. Our latest release of software supports IP cameras and IP video streams. Please contact Ipsotek to find out more.

Q. Can I use the Ipsotek IVS for post processing of video for forensic purposes?

A. Yes. The recent version 10 release provides for a full automatic post event analysis. The system keeps an ongoing log of all alarms whether switched on or not. After an event simply interrogate the system with, for example, ‘show me all persons entering a point in the last week’. The system automatically directs you to the time stamped clips without laborious review of the video.

Q. Can I use Ipsotek IVS on outside cameras, 24 x 7 x 365 in all weather conditions and in busy/ crowded environments?

A. Yes - Ipsotek IVS has been exhaustively tested over a 2 year period in multiple and varied real customer environments to harden the solution to the anomalies associated with outdoor environments. This has lead to a robust detection in these conditions.

Q. Can the Ipsotek system detect very specific behaviour?

A. Potentially the answer is yes, using multiple simultaneous triggers to specify a single event Please contact Ipsotek to discuss your specific requirements.
